Elizabeth Mekaru

Assistant Director, emekaru@umich.edu

As Assistant Director, Elizabeth oversees the day-to-day operations of the IPE office and heads up marketing and outreach efforts, encouraging Michigan Engineers to pursue international experiences.

Elizabeth completed her B.A. in Asian Studies at the University of Michigan, during which she studied abroad in Kyushu, Japan. After graduation, Elizabeth moved back to Japan and taught English in Yokohama before returning to the University of Michigan to complete her M.A. in Japanese Studies. Through her experiences abroad – both exciting and challenging – Elizabeth has grown personally and professionally, and is passionate about bringing such opportunities to University of Michigan students.
