2013 Photo & Video Contest Results

The International Programs in Engineering office is pleased to announce the results of the 2013 IPE Photo Contest.  Approximately 160 photos and videos were entered by CoE students who studied, worked, and volunteered all over the world.

Entries were divided into 3 categories:

  • Wolverines Abroad: Photographs submitted to this category feature UM Engineering students abroad.
  • Host Country/Culture: Photographs submitted to this category capture the culture, landscape, architecture and/or people of the host country.
  • Videos

Voyage to the City “Voyage to the City”
Program: Bluelab Woven Wind
Location: Nueva Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan, Guatemala
Photo submitted by: Alec ElsenGuatemalans in the rural countryside load their supplies on top of the “chicken bus”, a common mode of transportation in Guatemala. The buses are retired vehicles from American school systems which are shipped to Guatemala for reuse in public transportation. Each owner will personalize the bus to create a unique identity. Occasionally, attendants to the driver of the bus can be found “surfing” the roof while organizing luggage en route.
