Joshua Monthei

International Programs Manager

As the International Programs Manager, Joshua manages the International Minor for Engineers, College of Engineering Student Organization travel, re-entry programming, curricular integration strategies and a portfolio of semester abroad programs.

Joshua earned his M.A. in Southeast Asian Studies from The University of Michigan and his B.A. in Sociology from Kalamazoo College. Prior to joining the IPE team Joshua worked in the Texas Global office at The University of Texas at Austin where he worked on a diverse range of international programs as a Senior Program Coordinator.

Joshua’s past professional experiences includes time as a gap year leader where he led student groups on immersive programs to South America, Southeast Asia, India, and South Africa. He also was a Fulbright Public Policy Fellow working with Thailand’s Ministry of Transport and an Asia Pacific Leadership Fellow with the East-West Center in Hawai’i.

His initial study abroad experience was in Chiang Mai, Thailand where he studied Thai language, culture, and sustainable agriculture with the International Sustainable Development Studies Institute.
